They’re the great wonders of the world that every intrepid traveller must have on their wish list.
From Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway, Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano, to India’s Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China, to not see them, really is missing out.
A new book by Lonely Planet reveals the top 50 must-see world wonders – with the experts picking out their top 10 especially for MailOnline Travel.

The top 10 wonders of the world...

1. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe/Zambia
2. Great Rift Valley, Ethiopia
3. Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland
4. Taj Mahal, India
5. Terracotta Army, China
6. Great Wall of China, China

8. Kilauea, Hawaii
9.  Hagia Sophia, Turkey
10. Potala Palace, Tibet
World’s Great Wonders brings together the most amazing manmade structures and natural creations from across the globe.
From the formation of the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia to the painstaking creation of the Terracotta Army, the book dedicates at least four pages to each site’s fascinating facts, stunning photography and detailed illustrations which give the reader an insight into its creation.
The foreword for the book is provided by art historian and BBC presenter Dan Cruickshank who explains: ‘The aim of this book is straightforward – to inform, to inspire and to encourage its readers to travel.
‘If you know key facts about your destination you will surely enjoy it – and most certainly understand it – better.
‘Of course the term “wonder” is loose, clearly subjective and poetic, rather than scientific or objective. I suggest anything that surprises, mystifies, or takes the breath away by its sheer size, beauty or audacity is a wonder.’
Jheni Osman, the author of The World’s Great Wonders, adds: ‘This book takes you a step further on your travels, revealing the science and engineering behind how epic structures were built or incredible natural wonders formed.

‘It was always going to be tough to reduce all the world’s amazing wonders into 50 must-see sights, but this book spans the heights of engineering, the spectrum of beautiful architecture, and the eons of time.’
World’s Great Wonders, which is now on sale priced £19.99, is available through Lonely Planet.

Chinese Fans of Korean Soap Operas: Don't Call Us Dumb

中國韓劇粉:別叫我們腦殘

《來自星星的你》亞洲粉絲俱樂部在《朝鮮日報》上刊登的全版廣告
A group of Chinese fans of Korean soap operas have gone very public in response to a study published last year that suggested Chinese viewers of Korean 'dramas' tend to be at the lower end of the education and income spectrum.

On Wednesday, a full-page ad from a group called the 'Asian Fan Club of 'My Love From the Star'' appeared in South Korea's largest circulation national daily, Chosun Ilbo, requesting an apology from the study's authors.

The ad, written both in Chinese and Korean, doesn't pull any punches: 'We would like to tell you that you are wrong. We like Korean dramas... We like intellectual power even more,' the ad reads.

'My Love From the Star,' a 21-episode romantic comedy about a Korean actress and her extraterritorial boyfriend was a huge hit around Asia. It ended last month. In China, the drama triggered a craze for chicken-and-beer, the favorite food combination of the main female character.

The main male character, Professor Do Min-jun, is played by Korean heartthrob Kim Soo-hyun. In the plot, Prof. Do accidentally lands on earth 400 years ago and falls in love with Chun Song-e, played by Jeon Ji-hyun.

The ad says 'Fans of My Love From the Star, along with science fans, will watch The Brain, a program for people with high intellectual power, on March 21, when Prof. Do appears on the show.' Kim Soo-hyun participated in the filming of The Brain, a show produced by China's Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, on March 8.

'If the number of viewers surpasses 100 million, you need to make an apology to Prof. Do Min-jun! As well, you should make an apology to 'My Love From the Star' and science fans,' the ad says.

The study in question, 'Map of Drama Taste of Chinese TV Viewers,' was written by five researchers at Seoul National University. The paper concluded that TV viewers in China with high education and income levels prefer Japanese and American soap operas, while those with medium levels of education and income like Chinese and Hong Kong shows. The low-education-low-income group opts for Taiwanese and Korean dramas, the academics wrote.

Kang Myung-koo, who led the 4-member research team, including two Chinese staff, said: 'I know the study has some parts that can be seen as controversial but I didn't expect to see such a huge reaction from Chinese fans.'

'I was amazed to see the ad and I think it is really a good thing that Chinese fans have such a passion for Korean dramas,' he added.

Asked about the fans' request for an apology, Mr. Kang said: 'I acknowledge that there are some parts in the study that can produce misunderstandings.'

Chosun Ilbo said the client bought the ad through an agency in Guangzhou.

(Asian Fan Club of 'My Love From the Star')的團體在韓國發行量最大的《朝鮮日報》(Chosun Ilbo)上刊登了一則全頁版廣告,要求該論文的作者們道歉。

(Chun Song-e)

This is the moment a Christmas turkey was roasted on the world's most expensive cooker - a £300,000 Lamborghini.
Car blogger Tim Burton, from London, bought a fresh turkey and put the festive bird on the end of a pitchfork.
He then bravely stood behind the 700bhp Lamborghini Aventador and got the owner of the supercar to rev as hard as he could.

Ready to eat! The browned turkey was roasted in 10 minutes but this method is unlikely to replace the oven

As the Italian motor reached a whopping 9,000 revs, huge flames spewed from its exhaust - blasting the turkey with extreme heat.

Mr Burton, who makes YouTube videos under the name Shmee150, stood while the bird was given the alternative Christmas roasting for more than ten minutes.
The result was a browned turkey - although the high octane method is unlikely to replace the oven around the country any time soon.

Justin Bieber waved to the media as he was released from jail this afternoon.
The 19-year-old singer had earlier appeared in court by video link after he was arrested for drunk driving and resisting arrest while allegedly drag racing in Miami early this morning.
He looked emotionless and fidgeted as he heard his bail set at $2,500.
Police arrested the pop star as he drove a bright yellow Lamborghini at up to 60mph in a 30mph speed limit zone while allegedly racing Def Jam rapper Khalil Sharief who was driving a Ferrari.
He had spent a night partying with model Chantel Jeffries and allegedly admitted to officers that he had been smoking marijuana 'all day', taking anti-depressants and drinking beer when he was stopped at 4am.

The troubled singer, who has had a number of brushes with the law - LA police raided his mansion earlier this month after a neighbor's house was attacked with eggs - allegedly asked the arresting officers 'Why the f*** did you stop me' this morning.
And although the singer appeared stoic as he appeared in court, he allegedly broke down in tears when he returned to his cell, according to People.
RadarOnline maintained, however, his mood was very different before he appeared on camera - the star was reportedly heard mumbling to himself and giggling, which the site's source attributed to him still being 'under the influence.'
The star also told police it was his mother Pattie Mallette who gave him Xanax, one of the prescription drugs he was on during his arrest, according to TMZ. The site also reported his blood alcohol content was .04; Florida has no tolerance for underage drunk drivers.
After being released he hid behind black sunglasses and a hoodie as he entered a waiting car.
Bieber has reportedly hired attorney Roy Black to represent him.

MailOnline has also learned that Bieber’s father Jeremy was among the star’s entourage as he raced along Miami Beach.
The singer has been charged with drunken driving, resisting arrest and driving without a licence.
Hours after the arrest, Police Chief Raymond Martinez confirmed that the performer used the F word repeatedly after being stopped and kept putting his hands in his pocket.

Justin, who was in handcuffs as he was escorted to a county jail, looked depressed as he stood before the judge this afternoon.
With his hair still coiffed into a slick Elvis Presley-style up-wave from the night before, but devoid of the gold earrings and chains he wore during his arrest, Justin appeared to already be hungover.
He moved his head from side to side and seemed to chew the inside of his cheek as he listened to the judge's remarks.

Justin got out of his car, but kept putting his hands in his pocket, according to a detailed description from the arresting officer in his police report.
The officer stated he asked the teen to then put his hands on his own vehicle.
That's when the singer said, 'What the f*** did I do, why did you stop me?'
When the Canada native turned to face the officer, he said, 'I ain't got no f****ing weapons, why do you have to search me? What the f*** is this about?'
Bieber was again told to put his hands on his car. But when the Love Me singer faced the officer for a second time, the policeman 'grabbed his right hand and stated to him that he was under arrest.'
Bieber then 'began to resist me by pulling his right arm away as he stated: "What the f*** are you doing?"' according to the officer.
That is when another officer was called for assistance and the musician was placed into custody.

The singer's friend Khalil was seen driving Justin's red Ferrari.
Both the Ferrari and the Lamborghini have been impounded.
Justin was spotted driving away from SET nightclub in Miami with Chantel.
The 21-year-old model has dated a string of stars including P. Diddy's son, American footballer DeSean Jackson, and Bieber's friend Lil Twist.
According to her Twitter biography, she's a 'student, model, eyebrow connoisseur, animal lover, and deep thinker.'

MailOnline has learned Justin's father Jeremy was with the star during the race.
'Jeremy was in an SUV next to Justin when the cops turned up,' a source tells MailOnline.

'It's fair to say Jeremy is not a great influence - he certainly enjoys and takes advantage of his son's money and lifestyle.
'Justin's manager Scooter has been trying to get Justin help for the past two weeks, but no-one's helping.
'Of course people care about Justin, but we are in a very difficult situation,' added the insider.
There was more bad news on Thursday for the celebrity: RadarOnline reported he failed to show up for a deposition with photographer Jeffrey Binion over an alleged shoving match with one of the Believe star's bodyguards that resulted in a camera being damaged.

Meanwhile, Justin - who reportedly spent $75,000 at a strip club over the weekend - had his home in Calabasas, California, searched by police last week after he was accused of a vicious egg attack on his neighbour.
Detectives reportedly raided the 19-year-old star's mansion and one person was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
The star may also have his cell phone company served with a search warrant to check his phone. Police want to see if Justin bragged about the apparent attack.
